Short answer: First, check the pen and test tube list. If the approved charge assembly is the right size and can be held in the test position, a universal cartridge case can be used; otherwise, a separate cartridge case is required for each charge assembly.
A box containing five SKUs does not mean that all five SKUs are in an empty box.
A small pen can move within the groove designed for the largest pen sizes. A flexible ring around the smallest pen barrel might hold a larger pen so tightly that the user would pull on the cap. Size also determines the distance between the medication and the gel packet.
First, draw the product matrix. Then, draw the case studies once the scope is visible.
The current product labels indicate the temperature limits; the product manuals record the load capacity and inspection methods for the selected load.
What should you put in a travel case containing multiple insulin pens?
| site | Buyer enters the market |
|---|---|
| refer to | Product name, model number, or buyer's SKU |
| Format | Pens, ink cartridges, small bottles, or sample sizes |
| envelope | Length, maximum diameter, cover, button and other protrusions |
| unit weight | Actual weight or representative weight |
| load | Minimum and maximum quantity |
| Accessories | Needles, cotton swabs, test strips, measuring instruments, instruction cards |
| Temperature target | Current label-based conditions |
| Market inventory units | Kits or packages using this layout |
For custom-made cavities, please provide a sample of the product or a dimensional drawing. Photos are for reference only.
The product instructions do not specify dosage limits. The FDA's storage guidelines explain that storage conditions vary by product and warn against using frozen insulin. The CDC's travel guidelines recommend avoiding direct contact between insulin and ice.
The table must list the products covered by the case. “All insulin pens” is not a testable entry.
Which type of internal channel is suitable for storing insulin vials in a travel case?
Example route used in project review:
| route | it works | Inspect the sample |
|---|---|---|
| Adhesive EVA Pad | Product series stable | Move the smallest item; remove the largest item. |
| Adjustable partition | Buyers need layout flexibility | Users can change the test spacing. |
| Flexible support | The diameters are very close | Recovery, gripping, pressure, and entry/exit |
| standalone tagged module | One casing serves a specific SKU | The correct module has been installed in the correct SKU. |
Based on the projects we've reviewed, two to four pens or two to three vials are common initial dosages. However, this is not the standard volume. Gel packs, separators, accessories, and buyer restrictions on packaging size can all affect the final dosage.
Which loads require compatibility checks?
| load | Place the sample | Search |
|---|---|---|
| minimum | Minimum number of approved products | Moving, loose shoulder straps, near gel pack |
| Maximum | The most complete range of products, ample quantity, and all specified accessories are available. | Zipper pressure, disassembly clearance, compression insulation |
| mix | The instructions allow the use of a pen and a medicine bottle. | Glass protection, contact between items, and partition movement |
| The middle | Uneven distribution or incomplete filling results in large gaps. | Displacement occurred during handling, and new cold spots appeared. |
Please perform a carrying check with the gel pack attached. The neat arrangement on a table may change after the box is placed upright in the backpack.
Do all insulin travel cases achieve the same cooling effect?
No. Different loads will change the mass, air space, and distance between the medicine and the packaging.
An approved load size cannot automatically represent a pen, six pens, several vials, another tablet, or another gel pack. This is precisely why “generic” packaging still requires defining load groups. A complete Pengtour test example is retained in the Cooling Time Test Guide and will not be repeated here.
For Pengtour's current projects, the thermal performance comparison uses the upper limit temperature set by the buyer, below -30°C. Other drug labels may set different target temperatures.
For multi-size insulin travel cases, please select the thermal test kit from the matrix:
- Minimum item, minimum load
- The largest item is at maximum load.
- Items closest to the coolant
- The component furthest from the coolant
- Approved mixed loads
- Any insert that changes the spacing or material
Buyers don't always need to test each color or sales SKU individually. The reasons for grouping configurations should be documented.
What role does a shared outer shell play in the design of multi-SKU insulin pen travel cases?
I first compare the length and diameter ranges on the matrix. If they are close, and each kit uses the same gel pack design and target temperature, then it is worthwhile to sample the universal shell. When packaging, the name on the inner label must be clearly visible, and the accessory pack should not turn a single packing instruction into several pages.
When products vary significantly in size, have different ice pack placements, or require individual glass protection, using separate packaging boxes may be cleaner. Similarly, separate packaging boxes should be used when two similar modules are easily confused during packaging, or when "generic" loading instructions are difficult for end users to understand.
Calculate the costs of insertion, testing, packaging, inventory, and errors. If the internal structure becomes complex, saving on an outer casing mold might actually be counterproductive.
How do I add a new pen model?
Use the existing matrix as the change record.
| New model problem | If the answer changes, appropriate measures will be taken. |
|---|---|
| Was it placed in an envelope that met the specified size? | Repeated adaptation and access permission checks |
| Is it controlled by the same holder? | Modify or add insert items |
| Has the coolant delivery distance changed? | View probe image and thermal comparison image |
| Will the quantity or payload mass change? | Add new load conditions |
| Are the temperature conditions the same for each label? | Modify test target |
| Will it generate a new nearest or farthest point? | Add this location to the test plan |
Do not allow new sales SKUs to automatically inherit old temperature results.
What documents should the buyer send before taking samples?
- Product matrix and size chart or samples
- Minimum quantity, maximum quantity, and mixed quantity
- Parts list
- Target temperature, duration and environmental conditions
- Gel Packet Types and Preparation Instructions
- SKU information for logo, packaging, and planning
Pengtour can compare fixed and adjustable liners, mark the loads requiring review, and prepare sample briefings. Incorporate load, temperature targets, and ice pack protocols into the design requirements for the travel insulin cooler . Then request OEM samples with a complete dimensional matrix.
How should buyers check the size chart for compatibility?
Smallest pen – fill with the minimum allowable amount of gel pouch. Zip up the gel pouch and hold by the handle. Once open, note the pen's position; simply zipping it up doesn't count.
The largest pen – assembled into a complete sales set. When removing the pen, pay attention to the gaps between the cap, button, clip, finger groove, and end cap. The pen must be able to be removed smoothly without pulling the adjacent pens off the holder.
Mixed filling – Please use the exact combination of pens and sample vials permitted in the sales kit. Carry the box vertically before opening. Be aware of any movement of the dividers and any contact between the glass and hard edges.
Flexible pen cap – Remove and reinstall the pen cap multiple times. Record instances of the pen cap rolling, twisting, weakening of its elasticity, or pressure on the protruding part of the pen tip.
EVA cavity installed —Please mark the accepted product reference number next to the cavity number on the drawing. "Installation is correct" is not sufficient as a requirement for production documents.
Insert Identification – Each approved insert is assigned a unique code. This code is repeated on the Bill of Materials (BOM) and packaging records. If the buyer requires internal cleaning, the identification may be retained on the factory packaging.
Initial packaging check – Place the liner, gel pouch, dividers, accessory pack, instruction card, and sales SKU next to the empty casing. This is a final, simple way to check if the wrong module is installed.
